FAQ

GENRES

  • I work in all genres and on all types of projects. Rap, rock, indie, hardcore, pop, jazz…

RATES

  • I can work with most budgets, depending on your needs and deadlines. For inquiries on rates and budgets, please reach out using the form on the CONTACT page.

TURN-AROUND

  • Depending on the schedule, it usually takes 1-2 days to mix a single,  and around 12-14 days to mix an album. Turn-around also depends on the state of the files - if some things need work (editing, tuning, etc), it could add some time onto the project.

MIX REVISIONS

  • We work until the mix is done and the client is happy.

MASTERING

  • I strongly encourage clients to have their mixes professionally mastered by a REAL mastering engineer. I have several that I highly recommend. I’m a big believer in the final touch that a true mastering engineer can put on a record.

Submitting Files for Mixing

My approach is to pick up where you left off. You’ve worked hard getting your mix to a place — I want to continue to build from there.

THE BASICS:

  • Audio files are preferred to be at least 48 kHz - 24 Bit.

  • Wav files preferred. No MP3 files, please.

  • Please make sure each Audio Track and its audio file is properly named (NOT Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio 3, etc.)

  • Please place each song/session & its audio files in its own folder labeled with the “Artist’s Name & Song Title” and ZIP the file before sending.

  • Include the tempo and key for each song.

  • Please include contact info for the artist, producer, engineer and/or assistant engineer in case we have questions or need to have any tracks or files resent or adjusted.

  • Google Drive, Yousendit or WeTransfer are preferred for file submission.

  • Any questions - call or text anytime.

FOR PRO TOOLS:

  • Send the Pro Tools session that matches the most recent mix with all plugins and routing intact. Send a print/bounce of the most recent mix that matches that Pro Tools session for reference.

  • Print all midi instruments, amp simulators, virtual instruments, etc. I want to make sure we use the specific tones and sounds you spent your time creating.

  • Print any processing that is essential to the sound of the song/track. For example, if there is a distorted drum sound that is the exact tone you want, please print that. Or if you have created an exact auto tune run that you love, please print it. If you have created a certain delay or reverb or effect, please print it.

  • Please delete any unused and/or hidden tracks. Please remove any deactivated plugins, or plugins that are not being used.

  • Consolidating each track’s audio (from the top of the session to the end) also helps with file size and management as well as alignment issues.

  • Performing a “Save Copy In” (under the FILE drop-down menu in Pro Tools), and selecting the check boxes to include the Audio Files and Main Playlists Only is best for sending a more efficient and concise session. Please make sure all audio files are included so that we don’t run into any disc allocation issues and we are not missing any files.

FOR LOGIC, ABLETON, FL STUDIO, ETC.:

  • Bounce each track out to individual wav files (stems). Please bounce mono tracks in mono and stereo tracks in stereo. Please make sure each track is bounced from the same start point at the top of the session. Send a bounce of the rough mix that matches these stems for reference.

  • When bouncing or exporting tracks, do NOT normalize the audio.

  • If you have mix/master bus processing (compression, limiting, mastering plugins, etc., - make sure those plugins are turned off so that it leaves me some headroom and doesn’t brick wall each individual stem.

  • Please print any effects (reverbs, delays, etc) separately - mainly for the vocal and drums. If the effects are an integral part of the “sound” of the stem, please print them with the stem.

  • If you have any in-the-box effects that are specific production decisions (like a big snare hit reverb, a tremolo on a guitar, a cool specific delay effect, if you’re using a drum trigger, etc.) print those effects with their respective stem.

  • Please make sure all audio files are included.

  • If possible, please send an additional dry, unprocessed version of each lead vocal track.
